The Centre for Postcapitalist Civilisation,\u00a0m\u03adta, invites you to an open discussion\u00a0co-organised by\u00a0m\u03adta, Athens’ Numismatic Museum and Papasotiriou Publishing\u00a0on the necessity of\u00a0Basic Income<\/strong>,apropos the publication of Guy Standing’s\u00a0Basic ‘Income: And How We Can Make It Happen’<\/em>\u00a0in Greek (Papasotiriou 2021, foreword by Yanis Varoufakis).<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The event (free admission) will take place on\u00a0Tuesday 21 September<\/strong>,\u00a0at 7pm,\u00a0in the Garden of Athens’ Numismatic Museum (Panepistimiou Av. 12, Athens 10671),\u00a0with Prof.\u00a0Guy Standing\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Yanis Varoufakis<\/strong>, Secretary of MeRA25, as the discussants.\u00a0Sotiris Mitralexis<\/strong>, m\u03adta’s academic director,\u00a0will moderate the event, which will be translated live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Guy Standing co-founded the Basic Income Earth Network and now serves as its honorary co-President. He has held professorships at the University of Bath and at SOAS, was programme director at the International Labour Organisation and has advised the UN, World Bank and governments around the world on labour and social policy. He is the author of the bestselling The Precariat: The New Dangerous Class (2011) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
