Culture forms one of m\u03adta\u2019s main priorities \u2014 since it is through art and research, argument, and poetry, that m\u03adta works to break with a dystopic present and imagine the world<br>anew. Art is a trauma, crisis, anger, agony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In art, the whole of society is embraced and encapsulated \u2014 along, of course, with its various barbarisms. Art is political by definition, as it implicitly and explicitly addresses the freedom of the individual and of the collective to express themselves and to take action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It affects both those who produce it and those who contemplate it.<br>And, crucially, it has the capacity to make us think and imagine. Art can effect change \u2014 if not the world as a whole, then at least people\u2019s perceptions and dispositions. It can criticize and challenge. Art can affect people; it can make us see reality with fresh eyes and reveal hidden perspectives. She was born in Bologna by Greek parents in exile during the Regime of Colonels in Greece.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has a degree in Classical Philology cum laude at Universit\u00e0 di Roma \u2013 La Sapienza.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She started as Art curator her activity in 1997, after a 2 year special course in Conservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,&nbsp; focusing on young artists and with a special attention to artists at risk or artists committed to Human rights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She presented in 2002 Joe Sacco\u2019s work in Italy and curated the first and one of the few exhibitions of Marjane Satrapi in 2003. She was the artistic director of Komikazen Festival (from 2005 to 2015) who was an avant-garde festival dedicated to reality based comics that hosted and presented authors from all over the world with a peculiar gaze to less promoted territories and stories. She was part of the collective of the magazine G.I.U.D.A. As writer&nbsp; she published <em>Small Jerusalem<\/em>, with Angelo Mennillo, translated in Greek, Turkish and French, <em>Cena con Gramsci, Arrivederci Berlinguer, Pertini tra le nuvole, Diario segreto di Pasolini<\/em>, with Gianluca Costantini. She curated Zehra Do\u011fan&#8217;s first solo exhibition in Italy<em> Avremo anche giorni migliori<\/em> in Museo di Santa Giulia -Brescia (2019), her performance during maestro Muti&#8217;s Peace concert in Ravenna and Paestum, and<em> Il tempo delle farfalle a<\/em>t PAC in Milan (2020-2021).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021 she presented Badiucao&#8217;s first solo exhibition in Brescia<em> La Cina (non) \u00e8 vicina,<\/em> opening, replied in a wider version in Dox in Prague from 12th of May until 28th August 2022. In November 2022 she presented Victoria Lomansko in the same venue and she curated her first Italian translated book <em>Altre Russie<\/em> and in 2024 Khalid Albaih\u2019s personal exhibition <em>La stagione delle migrazioni al nord (The Season of Migration to the North) <\/em>inspired by the novel of Tayeb Salih.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has written for Ai Weiwei Studio the Graphic Memoir \u201cZodiac\u201d published in January 2024 by Penguin Random House in US, translated in many countries. She wons the prize Micheluzzi for the best scenarist in 2025 for Zodiac. She is also listed in the final selection of the prize Boscarato 2025 for the same book, but the final prize hasn\u2019t be communicated yet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has collaborate with many newspapers and magazines in Italy and abroad. Her background played a significant role in her artistic quest. In her studies, she focused on the Arab Art scene, with a strong feminist vision. Since 2020 she is doing workshops at the University of Seville at the Master\u2019s program about Performance Art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, she gave a lecture at the summer course \u201cVisual Arts in the Arab World\u201d at the International University of Andalusia and in 2024 gave a lecture about Art and Politics at the University Paris 8. She also organizes the Palestinian Film festival for m\u03adta (Centre for Post Capitalist Civilisation) since 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of her projects are elaborated in public spaces, which also involves the audience.&nbsp; Her art is her political voice, touching themes such as of human rights, religious and political abuse, gender abuse, criticizing the social injustice especially in the Middle East.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She had 4 individual exhibitions many performances and over 30 collective exhibitions in many countries.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/metacpc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/space.png\" alt=\"space\" class=\"wp-image-12812\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1;object-fit:cover\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"has-accent-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-42be7daa426a5a8994848457395ff5f9\"><strong>The Space<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition is hosted in a newly restored three-story neoclassical building in the heart of Athens&#8217; ancient center, Monastiraki, generously made available by a Joradnian collector of Palestinian descent. The neighborhood, a major tourist attraction at the foot of the Acropolis, is home to the famous flea market and one of the few remaining (though non-functioning) mosques in the Greek capital, located near the Library of Hadrian. Not far from the venue is also the Greek Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe this location is ideal both for its symbolic resonance and for its public visibility and accessibility. It is a space rich with stories and layered identities. Furthermore, as a non-commercial initiative, the space allows artists to retain 100% of the proceeds from any sale of their work, with no commission fees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"eb-tab-wrapper\" data-tab-id=\"1\" data-tab-parent-id=\"eb-advanced-tabs-0aphs\"><div class=\"eb-tab-inner\">\n<p>The exhibition addresses the resilience of <strong>Palestinian art<\/strong> in the face of the ongoing violence that Palestine and its people endure, and at the same time, the invaluable role of art in preserving the cultural identity of the Palestinian land and its people, in response to the <strong>Genocide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d7d7363e8fc59d819288dab1f3c79bbc\">The exhibition will open in <strong>Athens from 11 December 2025 until 25 January 2026<\/strong>, under the auspices of <strong>m<strong>\u03ad<\/strong>ta \u2013 the Center for Post-Capitalist<\/strong> Culture. The generation of artists born between the two Intifadas expresses an artistic quality that needs to be recognized and named.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contemporary Palestinian art exists\u2014even if often confined to the diaspora. A colonial attitude, in many forms, censors its existence, naming the countries where the artists were born while erasing their origins, or simply silencing their voices, as recently happened at the Whitney Museum.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition will be hosted in Athens, in the historical center of the city, where since the 6th century BC, the soul of encounter, commerce, and exchange\u2014the agora\u2014has lived. The space is a restored neoclassical building, generously offered by its owners for this purpose.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three curators\u2014Elettra Stamboulis (curator and writer), Danae Stratou (artist), and Doris Hakim (Greek-Palestinian artist)\u2014have selected 15 artists whose clear-sighted and poetic perspectives of the Palestinian reality are expressed through diverse visual media, ranging from comics and painting to installation and performance.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The working team, promoted by m\u03adta (The Centre for Post Capitalist Civilisation), is a cultural institution whose advisory board includes figures such as Noam Chomsky, Shirin Neshat, Brian Eno, and Yanis Varoufakis, is made up of professionals who have mobilized out of passion for this cause.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are asking for your support to realize this project and to enable it to travel across Europe and beyond. Art, with its power that transcends language, allows a vital message to be communicated\u2014one that can no longer be postponed.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palestinian art exists.<br>It\u2019s time for The generation of artists born between the two Intifadas expresses an artistic quality that needs to be recognized and named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contemporary Palestinian art exists\u2014even if often confined to the diaspora. A colonial attitude, in many forms, censors its existence, naming the countries where the artists were born while erasing their origins, or simply silencing their voices, as recently happened at the Whitney Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The exhibition will be hosted in Athens, in the historical center of the city, where since the 6th century BC, the soul of encounter, commerce, and exchange\u2014the agora\u2014has lived. The space is a restored neoclassical building, generously offered by its owners for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three curators\u2014Elettra Stamboulis (curator and writer), Danae Stratou (artist), and Doris Hakim (Greek-Palestinian artist)\u2014have selected 15 artists whose clear-sighted and poetic perspectives of the Palestinian reality are expressed through diverse visual media, ranging from comics and painting to installation and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The working team, promoted by m\u03adta (The Centre for Post Capitalist Civilisation), is a cultural institution whose advisory board includes figures such as Noam Chomsky, Shirin Neshat, Brian Eno, and Yanis Varoufakis, is made up of professionals who have mobilized out of passion for this cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are asking for your support to realize this project and to enable it to travel across Europe and beyond. Since 2020 she is doing workshops at the University of Seville at the Master\u2019s program about Performance Art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, she gave a lecture at the summer course \u201cVisual Arts in the Arab World\u201d at the International University of Andalusia and in 2024 gave a lecture about Art and Politics at the University Paris 8.
